Cookies
We set no advertising cookies and load no third-party tracker. There is one cookie that stores a choice you make, and two that only exist if you sign in or submit a form.

cpsj_analytics
Stores your answer to the question “may we count this visit?” and nothing else. It contains no identifier, holds one of two words, lasts six months, is set for this site only, and is written by JavaScript in your browser rather than by the server — which is the point: a consent value the browser cannot write is not a choice.
acceptedYou said yes
One row per page view is written on our server: the path, a daily-salted one-way hash of your IP address, the referring hostname, your User-Agent, and the time. Never your address itself.
declinedYou said no
Nothing about your visit is recorded. The cookie exists purely so we stop asking; it is the only thing it does.
(no cookie)You have not answeredCurrent
Treated exactly like no. Nothing is recorded and the banner keeps asking. An unanswered banner is never taken as permission — this is the state you are in before you touch anything, and on any browser where you have cleared your cookies.
Changing your answer
Use the buttons in the panel on this page — they write the same cookie the banner writes, and take effect on your next page view. “Ask me again” deletes the cookie outright, which puts you back in the third state above and brings the banner back.
You can also clear it in your browser’s site-data settings, or block cookies for this site entirely. Blocking them has no effect on browsing, searching or applying: without the cookie we simply never record anything and keep asking.
The choice lives in the browser that made it. Answering on your laptop does not answer for your phone, and a private window starts unanswered every time.
The other two
| Cookie | Purpose | Life |
|---|---|---|
canadapublicsectorjobs_session | Keeps you signed in and carries flash messages. Only set once you interact with a form or sign in. Encrypted, HTTP-only, same-site. | 2 hours |
XSRF-TOKEN | Proves a form submission came from a page on this site rather than from somewhere else. Strictly necessary; it is what stops another site posting on your behalf. | 2 hours |
Both are first-party, both are functional rather than analytical, and neither is used to build a profile or shared with anyone. Under Canadian and EU rules these are strictly necessary cookies and do not require consent — but they are listed here because a cookie page that only lists the optional one is not a cookie page.
What we do not set
- No Google Analytics, and no third-party analytics of any kind.
- No advertising, retargeting or conversion pixels.
- No social media embeds that set cookies of their own.
- No cross-site identifier, and nothing shared with a data broker.
Measurement here is first-party and server-side by design. It is described in full, including exactly what a stored row contains and how long it is kept — currently 180 days — on the privacy page.
